Learn While Playing

Students learn through play and educational activities when visiting Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell, SD.

Students and teacher at the Sheldon School on the Dakota Discovery campus.

There is no doubt that children (and adults) love to play. And there is no doubt that teachers want their students to learn. At Dakota Discovery, the best of both worlds can be paired together in a fantastic field trip.

The Discovery Land environment can fulfill a very important role in a students learning experience. We believe children learn best when they have fun, are self-motivated, and search for answers to questions they formulate for themselves. We have created a welcoming place that fosters exploration, communication, and social interaction.

At Discovery Land, watch as students:

  • Problem solve
  • Learn alone or in groups
  • Try something new
  • Examine objects
  • Interact with others
  • Explore
